Advanced PDO Thread Lift Techniques in Columbus & Westerville, Ohio
What Is a PDO Thread Lift?
A PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive aesthetic procedure that uses absorbable polydioxanone (PDO) threads placed beneath the skin.
Depending on the type of thread and technique used, PDO threads can provide mechanical support to reposition lax tissue while also stimulating the body's natural collagen-building response as the threads gradually dissolve.
Unlike a surgical facelift, PDO thread lifting does not remove skin or require traditional surgery. Treatments can also be customized to target very specific concerns and areas of the face and neck.
PDO thread lifting continues to evolve—and so do the techniques we use to create natural-looking lift, definition and support.
At Dr. Mantor’s Wrinkle & Weight Solutions, Dr. Gina Mantor is introducing NEW PDO thread techniques designed to address some of the areas our patients ask about most: jowls, jawline definition, neck laxity, the area beneath the chin and overall facial descent.
These aren't simply “more threads.” The exciting part is how the threads are selected, positioned, combined and locked to create support where it is needed most.
New techniques. New PDO innovations. Better lift. Longer-lasting results.
What's New About Our PDO Thread Techniques?
Modern thread lifting is becoming increasingly sophisticated.
Rather than relying on one standard lifting pattern for every patient, Dr. Mantor can use different vectors, thread configurations and locking techniques based on a patient's anatomy, degree of laxity and desired result.
Our newest techniques allow us to think about facial rejuvenation in several dimensions—including vertical support, directional lifting, anchoring and strategic combinations of techniques.
The goal isn't to make someone look pulled or dramatically different.
It's to create a natural, refined lift that works with the structure of your face.
Vertical Enhance: A Different Approach to Facial Descent
One of our newest options is the Vertical Enhance Procedure.
As we age, facial tissues don't simply loosen—they gradually descend. Vertical lifting techniques are designed to address that downward movement by providing support in an upward direction.
For the right patient, Vertical Enhance may be performed on its own or combined with a traditional vector lifting procedure.
And that's where things get especially interesting.....
Why Combine Vertical and Vector PDO Thread Lifting?
Different lifting directions can address different components of facial aging.
A traditional vector technique may help reposition tissue along the jawline or lower face, while a vertical technique provides additional upward support.
By strategically combining the two, Dr. Mantor can approach facial laxity from more than one direction.
Think of it less as simply adding more threads and more as building a customized support system for
the face.
Not everyone needs a combination procedure, which is why an individual consultation and facial assessment are so important.
Jawline Enhance & Lock
A crisp jawline can gradually become less defined as skin and underlying tissues change with age. Our Jawline Enhance & Lock technique focuses on strategically supporting and defining
this area.
Depending on your anatomy, it may be performed alone or incorporated into a more comprehensive lower-face and neck treatment plan.
Can PDO Threads Help a Double Chin or the Area Under the Chin?
For some patients, yes—but it's important to understand what threads can and cannot do.
Fullness beneath the chin can be caused by fat, skin laxity, tissue descent or a combination of these factors. PDO threads do not replace treatments designed specifically to reduce
significant fat.
However, when lax or descending tissue is contributing to the appearance of the area, our Submentum/Double Chin Max Locking Lift may provide additional structural support and improved contour.
Determining why the area looks the way it does is an important part of choosing the right treatment.
Do PDO Threads Stimulate Collagen?
Yes. One of the reasons PDO threads are so interesting is that their role doesn't end with the initial procedure.
The presence of the absorbable thread initiates a tissue response that includes collagen formation around the treated area. The PDO material itself gradually breaks down and is absorbed by the body.
This means thread lifting combines immediate structural support with longer-term collagen remodeling.
How Long Do PDO Thread Lift Results Last?
There isn't one universal answer.
Results vary based on the type and number of threads used, treatment area, technique, degree of skin laxity, age, individual collagen response and lifestyle factors.
The threads themselves are temporary and gradually dissolve, while some of the collagen stimulated around them can remain after the PDO material has been absorbed.
Newer techniques are designed to improve how tissue is supported and anchored, with the goal of creating a stronger and more durable result.
During your consultation, Dr. Mantor can give you a more realistic expectation based on the specific technique recommended for you.
Will a PDO Thread Lift Look Natural?
That is one of our primary goals.
A successful thread lift shouldn't announce itself....
Instead, we want someone to look refreshed, supported and subtly lifted while still looking like themselves. Proper patient selection, thread placement and understanding facial anatomy all play an important role in achieving that result.
Who Is a Good Candidate for the New PDO Thread Techniques?
PDO thread lifting may be appropriate for adults experiencing mild to moderate facial or neck laxity who want improvement without undergoing a surgical facelift.
Good candidates may notice:
- Early or moderate jowling
- Loss of jawline definition
- Lower-face laxity
- Loose tissue beneath the chin
- Mild to moderate neck laxity
- Facial tissue that appears to be descending
- Fine lines or textural changes that may benefit from smooth PDO threads
Some patients will benefit more from another treatment—or from combining PDO threads with other aesthetic procedures. That's exactly why we start with a consultation rather than assuming threads are the answer for everyone!
